"El poder de contarlo" es un corto documental impactante sobre las historias de varias mujeres latinx inmigrantes, quienes superaron relaciones abusivas, y que llenas de esperanza, siguen luchando por un mejor futuro para ellas y sus familias. Este documental local es de apróximadamente 30 minutos y contiene lenguage gráfico sobre la violencia, lo cual puede que no sea apropiado para personas menores de 13 años de edad. El lenguaje hablado es español con subtitulos en inglés.

La programacion empezara con una introduccion especial por la Jueza de la Corte Municipal de Spokane, recientemente elegida, Gloria Ochoa-Bruck, seguido por el documental. Luego, escucharemos unas cortas palabras por la Directora Ejecutiva de MiA - Mujeres in Action, Hanncel Sanchez y una de las participantes del documental y Supervisora de Programa en MiA, Ana Trusty. Despues, tendremos tiempo de comer, connectar con otras personas, y aportar a la mision de MiA a travez de donativos.

Todos los donativos de este evento seran usados para apoyar la mision de MiA de apoyar a sobrevivientes de violencia domestica y/o sexual, ayudandoles a alcanzar su maximo potencial y educando a nuestra comunidad desde una perspectiva latinx para eliminar la violencia intrafamiliar.


"The Power to Tell" is a powerful short documentary that follows the stories of various Latinx immigrant women, who overcame abusive relationships, and that filled with hope, continue to fight for a better future for them and their families. This local documentary is approximately 30 minutes long and contains graphic language about violence, which may not be appropriate for minors under 13 years of age. The spoken language is Spanish with subtitles in English.

The program will begin with a special introduction by the recently elected Spokane Municipal Court Judge, Gloria Ochoa-Bruck, followed by the documentary screening. Then, we'll hear from the MiA Executive Director Hanncel Sanchez and one of the participants of the documentary and Program Supervisor at MiA, Ana Trusty. Then, we'll have time to eat, connect with others and support MiA's mission through donations.

All donations will be used to support MiA's mission of advocating for survivors of domestic and sexual violence, helping them reach their full potential and educating our community from a Latinx perspective to end family violence.

Admission: This premiere is free thanks to the generous support of Empire Health Foundation and the Spokane Public Library. However, please consider making a donation to MiA.
